Leave the road behind. Follow the granite valley. Camp where the trail leads.
High above Taif, the mountains of Al Shafa open into a cooler landscape of steep slopes, granite formations and deep natural valleys.
Hidden within these highlands, Ethrabah Valley follows a striking natural corridor between towering granite walls, rocky passages, seasonal streams, natural pools and pockets of vegetation shaped by rainfall and flowing water.
After preparing your equipment and backpack, you will leave the starting point and follow an approximately 8-kilometre round-trip route into the valley. The complete Adventure includes around four to six hours of hiking, divided between the afternoon approach and the following morning’s return.
The trail gradually moves away from the road and deeper into Ethrabah. Expect uneven mountain ground, granite slabs and narrow rocky passages, with sections that may become damp or crossed by seasonal water. As the valley closes around you, the familiar world begins to disappear.
Reach the campsite as the afternoon light softens across the granite walls. Set up your tent, change into warm layers and share dinner beneath the open sky. In the morning, wake to the cool mountain air, close the camp without leaving a trace and hike back through the valley as the landscape comes alive in a new light.
Carry what you need. Walk into the valley. Earn the night — the Lost Mountains way.
